Epidemic vs. Pandemic: What’s the difference?

In the corona era, as in every other health crisis, we hear the words “epidemic” and “pandemic” too often. And people often use them interchangebly without knowing the actual difference. But what is the difference between these two words?

Epidemic Meaning

Epidemic is a disease spread within a community or a certain region.

Pandemic Meaning

Pandemic is a disease that is spread over multiple countries or even continents.

So, when corona virus was still limited to Wuhan, China it is was an epidemic, and now being spread in most countries around the world, it is a pandemic.
